Brian V. DeMott was born in southern Delaware in 1989. He graduated from high school in 2007 and went on to attend the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He graduated from Mary Washington in 2011 with a bachelors of arts in Political Science. After college, Mr. DeMott returned to Delaware and attended the Delaware Law School of Widener University. While in law school, Mr. DeMott externed for the Honorable Mary Pat Thynge of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. He also volunteered as a law clerk for the Delaware Office of the Public Defender.

After graduating with honors from the Delaware Law School in 2014, Mr. DeMott served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable T. Henley Graves of the Superior Court of the State of Delaware before entering civil practice. During his time with Judge Graves, Mr. DeMott researched complex civil and criminal law issues and assisted Judge Graves in drafting several judicial opinions. The judicial opinions addressed issues ranging from employment discrimination to post-conviction relief. Mr. DeMott was admitted to the Bar of the State of Delaware in December 2014.

Mr. DeMott is active in the Rodney Inn of Court and is a graduate of Leadership Delaware, a non-profit devoted to identifying and supporting up-in-coming leaders in the State of Delaware. As a Leadership Delaware Fellow, Mr. DeMott went through an intensive, year long course in which he learned about issues facing the First State. Mr. DeMott also volunteers his free time to several community organizations. He is a board member of Rodney Street Tennis & Tutoring Association and ran for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year in 2018.
